Guidance for Aspiring Geostrategists
Demand for geopolitical insight in business has skyrocketed in recent years. Yet the job market for dedicated geostrategy work, such as “Chief Geopolitics Officers” remains small and highly competitive.
Most roles involving geopolitics are hybrid functions, requiring a combination of geopolitical expertise as it applies to a given domain, such as energy, commodities, defence and aerospace, law, banking and finance—and professional experience with the industry sector. Public relations and consulting firms increasingly incorporate geopolitical content into their offering also.
Having said that, entry-level geopolitics roles are extremely limited. International experience, high-level data and economic analysis capabilities and sophisticated written, presentation and research skills are all necessary to thrive in what has become an exciting and highly competitive field.
